BIM & Technology
Conisbee has been aware of the value of BIM since 2003, when the use of 3D modelling tools were adopted in the practice, followed by the use of Revit Structure since 2007. Our BIM strategy has been to enhance quality and internal coordination, improve collaboration with other consultants in the design team and develop better integration with our engineering design software, which ultimately provides better design information at an early stage and assists to maximise both design and cost efficiencies.
We have invested in training our technical staff in both Revit Structure and the process behind BIM, as well as establishing BIM standards based on the AEC (UK) BIM Standards and ensuring models are optimised to integrate with our engineering design software.
By providing clients and consultants with Revit models that adhere to industry standards we are confident that the full benefits of BIM are not limited to just us. Significant experience has been acquired working with other consultants on BIM projects and we strive to continually develop our expertise in this area in accordance with the emerging use of the technology by the industry.
We have developed an information technology system that supports our business objectives. This includes the implementation of a practice management system by Union Square in 2007 to help manage our key project and practice running processes. Projects have a shared centralised space providing easy access to every email, document or drawing and activities such as drawing issues and financial reporting are performed in a controlled manner.
Other technologies used include server and desktop virtualisation, centralised software deployment, secure remote access and storage solutions, enabling the best possible availability and ensure our system meets the changing requirements of the construction industry.
