Installation of new MRI scanner

Working in close collaboration with Paragon, Conisbee has been involved in the delivery of the temporary steelwork for the installation of the £1m, 8-tonne MRI scanner at the new Fortius Clinic facility on King William Street. None of the access points to the building were large enough for the scanner, so a telescopic crane was used to lift the MRI unit over the surrounding buildings and through an 11-storey existing rear lightwell with tolerances of only 500 mm.

The final completed space, which was designed by TP Bennett, has provided a welcoming and accessible clinic in the heart of London.

Michèle Dix speaks out for equality

Last night Michèle Dix became the latest speaker in the Conisbee sponsored, Inspiring Women series. The Crossrail 2 Managing Director told delegates “London’s development industry needs to ‘fish’ in a deeper, wider recruitment pool to create a better environment in which diversity can flourish and, in turn, to help to create a better city.

Currently engineering is 6% women, and transport at TFL 23% women, but this is improving towards a 50% goal, partially through mentoring, programmes and other campaigns. ‘There’s a business need to get more women into the industry’, said Dix. ‘And there’s a business need to get a more diverse representation.’
